Sherman! Sherman is a male Tuxedo cat living in West Philadelphia. As you can see, he is a classy gentleman and always dressed for dinner. He began visiting our porch in the Fall 2009 and from the start it was clear that he was a sweet kitty looking for a home. With the demeanor of a former house cat, Sherman was simply not cut out for life on the mean streets.
He loves to be petted and sits on laps easily. Sherman is an avid chaser of string and has been known to fall off the couch occasionally while in serious pursuit. He is talkative and will meow at the window while waiting for us to arrive home. He is an easy-going cat and puts up well with serious necessities such as being made to wear a bow tie or take a bath. Last month, he endured a 45 minute trip on SEPTA involving multiple transfers better than some humans.

FAQs
Why don't you adopt him?
My husband has severe respiratory problems and consequently we cannot bring Sherman into our apartment. However, our landlord-ish person met Sherman on an especially cold day in January and insisted we bring him inside. He currently lives in the empty first floor of our building. It is not a "forever home" as it will eventually be rented (and a cat is not what most people consider "partially furnished"). We can spend only a limited amount of time visiting and this is not fair to Sherman. He is a very social cat and wants to share a life with his new owner(s).
Can I adopt Sherman?

Is there a fee?
Yes, there is a $50 adoption fee for Sherman's veterinary costs. To active his Home Again microchip, there is an additional fee.
Can I have him as a part-time outdoor cat?
No! Sherman is a strictly indoors cat. While living outside, Sherman was frequently targeted by the aggressive feral cats in the neighborhood and attacked. For his safety, he should never be let outside. He is more Rocky Horror than Rocky Balboa. ;-)
Does Sherman have a nemesis?
Yes, one of the feral cats that lives around the way. We refer to Sherman's nemesis alternately as "Gladiator" and "Bobcat" because he fits either description. The nemesis has been known to stare down medium-sized dogs. Seriously, Sherman should not be allowed outside.
Does Sherman like Nori?
To my knowledge, Sherman has never had Nori. However, nothing we've seen has in any way suggested that he is a picky eater so...all signs point to yes!
